First, give us your “Elevator Pitch.” In two or three sentences, tell us what your project is about. What is the core idea of your story, or the key question is it trying to answer? Following the elevator pitch, then give us your full proposal. Your full pitch should be no more than three pages long and contain enough preliminary reporting and documentation to demonstrate that the proposal is solid. It should also highlight what’s new about the story, why it's significant, and what its potential impact might be; if the subject has been covered elsewhere, please note where that coverage has run and how your piece would differ. Within the proposal, include an outline of your reporting plan and a timeline for completing the project. And let us know if you are working with a media outlet that is interested in or plans to run the story. PLEASE NOTE: Do not name your proposal “McGraw Pitch” or something similarly general. Your proposal should be named using the following format: LastName_Brief description of your story.
